High Performance Teams

Mindful teams are groups of individuals that have a strong commitment to the team process and to the success of the team. In organizations, the notion of mindfulness in teams includes the transition to a self-directed team environment where individual members are recognized for their strengths and unique abilities and are able to use them in the service of the team. It also involves a commitment to staying in the present reality and accepting things the way they are in a non-judgemental fashion, and to working together to achieve mutually desired outcomes.

Our Mindful Team Program supports the growth of both the team and the individuals within it. The result is a team where individuals work more effectively together; builds upon the individual strengths of its members; experiences less conflict; and, enjoys improved communication, collaboration, and performance. It is a powerful, effective program for all types of organizations, including family business, small business, and corporations.

Our program focuses on the individuals within the teams: identifying their strengths, challenges, communication and interpersonal styles, leadership competencies, and the individual’s team style. During the process, the team comes together to look at their collective style, identifying: what roles individuals will play within the team; what functions will be handled well; what are the key blind spots or competency gaps; and where is communication likely to break down. An essential component to this process is to achieve an understanding of the stages of team development, to identify the predictable obstacles that are likely to appear as a part of the natural course of a team’s progression, and to look at where a team currently stands in the process.

We also work with your team to identify and clarify its mission, vision and objectives, and to work out a strategic plan of action for moving forward, and we identify practical steps needed to move the group towards the attainment of the goals. Our process also includes the creation of a Team Charter, which is an agreement created by the team to reflect the commitment that each team member has to the purpose and success of the team. This process will ensure that each team member understands his or her own roles and responsibilities in the process, and the impact that each individual has on the overall success of the endeavour.
